Thanks a lot, it was great on those new machines!
Are you able to reset the CMOS by removing and putting the battery back once the case is off ?
Thank you *very* much, this has been very helpful for me.
Really nice video, I like to upgrade my graphics card. Is it possible…
Thanks.
excellent…thank you sir!!!
@kjevo Thanks a lot! I appreciate your response. What bothers me is that the laptop comes with 2 GB of RAM and says upgradeable to 8GB of RAM. They should have said “upgradeable to 8GB of RAM (with upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit).” Nevertheless, thanks for your response.
@freak557 as kjevo said, it would seem you have a 32bit os. He is correct that only a 64bit windows os will see 8 gigs. You can upgrade to a 64bit os but a clean install (backup all data, format hd) is better. good luck.
@kjevo ‘Upgrade to a 64 BIT OS and ur fine
’ Typo:<
@freak557 Do you happen to have a 32 bit operating system installed? You probably do. a 32 bit operating system is not capable of reading more then 3.25GB of RAM. 64 bit is capable of reading way more.(the cap is unknown to me but i have a server running with a 64 bit operating system with 32 gig of ram)
Upgrade to a 64 but OS and ur fine!
Do a clean install though
@eremicd it;s to the right of the touch pad.
Great tutorial! I added two 4GBs. When I checked out the properties in My Computer is says: Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB (2.92 GB usable). Does that mean I wasted money buying 8 GB of RAM or is there a way to utilize the max amount of RAM? Any negative effects of using max RAM? Thanks in advanced!
@eremicd After you take the keyboard off, there are 2 or three screws along the top edge of the palm rest. Remove them, then slide the palm rest forward as you did with the keyboard and it will come off. Under this is the hard drive. Remove the 3 screws from the hard drive bracket. Use the tab on the hard drive to slide it away from the SATA connectors. Replace with a new hard drive in the same way.
Hope this helps.
Oh btw, for the 4720s if it came with a 4gb and I add another 4gb will it still work?
Very good tutorial. Thank you =)
hi, just bought it a week ago and i have 3 GB ram installed. So in this case I probably have 1 memory stick of 2gb + 1 stick of 1 GB. So in order to get 6 GB of RAM I have to buy 4 GB memory and replace 1 GB with the 4GB one. Now, this laptop does not suport dual memory chanell is that right?
Thanks.
Filip
I wanted to upgrade the RAM but a review of the computer mentioned that there is no user access to this. Your video answered my exact question in a clear manner. (I’m glad the review was wrong!) I am upgrading the RAM on two 4520s computers.
I would love to see how to replace the back cover of the lcd. My lovely teenage daughter had a friend over and someone managed to dent the cover to her laptop. (Grrrr.) The computer still works but I don’t want to take a chance with a compromised cover.
Thank you very much!
It’s perfect!

Where is the hard drive? How to upgrade it?
@Gman200108 If you are sure you removed all the screw under the battery, then it will come off.
@level8 I believe the 4525s only difference is AMD processor, so it should be the exact same procedures.

So, does this work the same with the ProBook4525S?
Warranty should be fine as long as you don’t break anything.
