This is a setup I have running at home using Win2VNC and TightVNC to control both my computers from my laptop. And the only thing my laptop has to be connected to is my wireless router for it to work. And of course, my PC which is being controlled is connected to my router via wired Ethernet… I know there are other types of software that let you do this, and I’ve tried a few. But this method is by far the easiest to set up and requires almost no configuration. I really like this setup, and I’ve had many people ask me about it, so I thought I would share with everyone so that you can have something like this at home. If I’m in another room and can’t see my computer, I can use the TightVNC Viewer so that I can actually see my PC’s screen in a window as I control it. But my laptop is usually within view of my TV, so I just use Win2VNC… Programs used for this: On the computer to be controlled – Install a VNC SERVER, I recommend TightVNC (Free) On the computer to be the controller – Install Win2VNC (Also free) Both of these programs are free and are not trial versions or limited versions… In this video, my PC is running on Windows 7 Ultimate, and my laptop is running Windows Vista Ultimate. All the instructions are pretty much in the video, other that the installation of the software, which is pretty straightforward. If you’re having any issues setting this up, post a comment and I’ll try to help you out. Sorry about the couple of glitches in the video where the picture …
Thanks you so much!!! I’ve been looking for how to do this forever!! But one thing, when I start tghe conection on the controler computer, the controled computer’s desktop changes to a blue screen. Any ideas on how to fix? if you can help me out send me a message on my channel. thanks again!!!
when I leave my controlling PC, the controlling PC screen turns into a fullscreen win2vnc white window. When I return the pointer, all is normal. However, when the pointer is not on the controlled PC, it hides windows as if I was hovering over the “show desktop” button. Any ideas whey this is happening? Thx!!
thanks alot worked straight away however, when i move my mouse over to the computer im controlling it flashes, as in the cursor disapears then reapears. could you please help me ?
@farstarfilms If your other computer is in another room, then I recommend looking into Windows Remote Desktop Connection so that you can view the other computer’s screen as well. It’s built into Windows, normally under start>programs>accessories
How does it work if I wanted to work on my pc that is in another room by using my laptop? is there a way to switch back and forth to desktops along with key board for both?
I found an easier way to discover the IP address….after putting (and running) TightVNC on the computer to be controlled, simply hover your mouse over the TightVNC icon in the lower right, (Task Bar) and the IP Address will be displayed.
@bunny9125 Don’t know why it wouldn’t work… mine works ok. It might be a problem if it’s one of those special gaming mice that need special drivers. Other thank that, I’m stumped as to why it wouldn’t work…

SIMPLE! CONCISE!
The only thing that would have made this easier would have been for him to come to my house and set it up.
this is SO great…. I use my Laptop to stream music with SAMS Broadcaster networked thru my PC library, and it has always been a PITA to switch from keyboard/mouse to control it, even though it is just to the left of my main monitor. This will truly make my life so much easier!
