Ha! So happy! This technique worked on my Transcend usb.. thanks so much!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You just saved 3 weeks of work. If you weren’t over the internet I’d give you a BJ
@rebelcountry33 Unfortunately, if the circuit board doesn’t look exactly the same, there’s no quick fix. Feel free to email us at support (at) flashdrivepros (dot) com if you need more assistance.
ok i have the same thing only its a 2g and the board looks different i need help!!!!
@EpicMudbud The skills required for this kind of repair are such that if you can’t figure it out without assistance, you will more that likely ruin the drive in the attempt if someone were to tell you the steps.
@Sahan250 Just use a pair of tweezers or a paper clip. Good luck.
On my flash drive the port part fell off (the rectangular part that you plug into the computer). is there anyway i can fix this even for just a few seconds to copy a file off of it? it disconnected from the board but everything is still there
could you please tell me how to shor the resistor what should I use and where should I get it from. Please hurry a whole GCSE depends on this.
Many thanks.
@nznoname Sadly, we haven’t had any luck breaking U3 password protection.
@roger12363 Glad we could help! Now don’t forget to back it up! We offer a program called FDP Sync that does it automatically. You can download a free trial on our website.
@Animaniacs11 Repairing a bent or broken USB connector can be as simple as soldering some leads to the circuit board to extract the data or as involved as rebuilding a damaged circuit board. If the damage it too severe, we can remove the memory chip are read it externally or put it on a new flash drive. Please visit our website for more info.
how do you fix a flashdrive when the usb gets bent?
thank you, if it wasnt for you i would have failed my class, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
Will this work if my sandisk is equipped with u3 password but suddenly stop working? asking to format drive because it is unable to read it.
The USB connecter broke and my brother tried to resolder it but then it shorted out (I don’t think he resoldered it correctly). Even with what I just told you, could you still get all my data off my Sandisk Micro (U3) 8 GB flash drive??
Hi FBR – I have a Transcend 16gb usb drive which needs data recovery. Have opened it and the schematic is different. Looks like there are 8 r’tors unlike the 4gb sandisk cruzer demonstrated by you. Where can I get a schematic to know which c’tor to break and which r’tor to short? Do I really need to break off the c’tor to proceed to the shorting of the r’tor? Will appreciate any help you can provide.
Want to prevent this from ever happening again? The Flash Drive Pros just created two apps designed to prevent flash drive data loss. FDP Sync automatically synchronizes your flash drive files with your computer’s hard drive. FDP Locker lets you password protect your flash drive with 128 bit encryption. Check out the website for more details.Flash drive data recovery software is coming soon!
Brilliant!! Worked like a charm. Thanks very much for posting..
will this work for the cruzer micros that do the 3 blinks repeatedly? thanks!
My memory board doesnt look like that..is there a recovery for a different cruzer??
Just a standard pair of household tweezers should do the trick. Yes, current is passing through the tweezers creating a short circuit. Just know that the circuit board needs to look just like the one in the video for this to work. (SanDisk has several different configurations). Also, proceed at your own risk.
Are there any “around the house” tools I can use to short the second resistor? I am not sure what you were using. Did you have some sort of current going through the “pinchers” or were you just squeezing with something. Thanks.
Awesome! Glad to help!
it worked!!!!! thank you soooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!
Do you know how to do this with the newer SanDisk flash drives? I have a 32gb flashdrive and it looks a little different.
