How to make USB speakers start working when i disconnect my headphones?

I am running windows vista. I have USB speakers plugged in. If i am using my headphones, and i unplug them, how do i make the USB speakers automatically start playing?

I could only set one device as default audio playback. Whatever i set that to, when i unplug the headphones, it shows that it is still playing to that port until i close the program and re-run it. Is there any software that i can download that would maybe let me switch which playback device is working?

in device manager, you need to enable ‘both’ devices.and make internal
sound device the primary. the drawback is the internal speakers will also be on. if the USB doesn’t mute with the phones, you would have
to un plug them with the phones.
